Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters - Jessica Valenti

I absolutely love Jessica Valenti's work and this book was no exception.

This is a great primer for feminism. Valenti uses her characteristic causal style (with lots of slang and swearing), which isn't for everyone, but definitely makes for an interesting and enjoyable read. The book is written in a way that is simple and easy to understand (as well as hilarious). The jokes help the reader ease into some of the very serious and difficult issues that Valenti discusses, which helps strengthen the book, in my opinion.

One of the things that I enjoyed most about this book was Valenti's focus on intersectionality within the chapters. She makes sure to note some of the intersections of race, class, and sexual orientation within the issues that she discusses and has a whole chapter about why it is important to recognize these intersections and the privileges that some groups have in comparison to others.

Valenti discusses many issues including rape culture, reproductive rights, women in politics, masculinity, weddings, and beauty standards based in consumerism.

Even though it was published in 2007, much of the information is still, sadly, very relevant today.

An amazing book for people interested in feminism and feminist issues. I highly recommend it.
